How maintenance records can affect your car

One of the things that a lot of people are doing now is wanting the maintenace records when buying a used car.  People are looking to see if a used car has a maintenance record. Because after all if somebody took care of a car you can trust it will last longer. So if you have a vehicle you own it will be critical to keep a record of all maintenance.Because a lot of buyers will want to take a look at that.

So one of the things you want to make sure to do is to keep a receipt of all service you do for your car.  In my auto repair San Diego business I make sure to give all my clients a receipt of the work that was done.Be sure that whatever company you are going to get service from will do the same. This could be the deciding factor in whether or not you get the price you wanted or have to get something less.

Also whenever you take your car in for a tune up keep a record of it.  Getting regular tune ups help keep your car running longer and smoother.  It also helps to get your car to pass a smog test much easier.  In my smog test San Diego center I notice cars that weren’t tuned up regularly are the ones that fail the test.

Finallly even for getting your brakes serviced you want to make sure to keep good records of that service.  This is another key part of taking care of your vehicle. It is what most potential buyers are going to want to see.  Because the last thing a new buyer wants is a big expensive brake service they need.  So in my San Diego brakes service I make sure to give a thorough report to all my clients.

Hopefully you fully understand how important it is to maintain your vehicles if you want to sell it.A lot of buyers now want a history of mainteance for the cars they want to buy.  By keeping records you can prove that you have been taking care of it.

Facts you should know about auto maintenance

Today in this ear, everybody has to have a car. There are even some people who need to use planes. But for many people, the use of a car is critical to surviving. It is able to transport people to their jobs.It can take people when they need to go shopping. It transports people to their schools.  So what I would like to share is the 3 important parts of keeping your car in order.

This is from a perspective from my experience running a auto repair San Diego company. The two areas we need to take a closer look at is the health of your car and your overall safety.

So in regards to safety you can classify all maintenance as being important to safety.  But one part of your car is really important to your safety. That part of the car is your brakes. With cars being able to travel much faster than before, good brakes are essential for safety. With more and more people having so many distractions good brakes are a must.By ensuring that your brakes are in good condition you will ensure yourself the ability to stop in time.  Well taken care of brakes save lives and money.  I have seen it first hand running a San Diego brake shop.

In relation to your car, your car’s overall health will be dependant on how well maintained you keep your car. Some of the crucial things you have to do is to make sure you always change the oil and get tune ups. By making sure you always get the oil changed you make sure that your cars runner smoother and longer.By not making sure your oil is always changed you can end up ruining your engine.

Another important thing you have to do is make sure you get regular tune ups.  If you do that you keep all your car’s major functions taken care of.  By doing this once again your car will runner smoother and cleaner. If you fail to do this you will have a car that doesn’t run very well. Some things that can happen when you don’t do that is a failed smog test.  Most of the cars that fail in my smog test San Diego shop are the ones that didn’t take care of those things.

So by doing these two things you will keep your car safe and you and your loved ones safe.

Saving money through your car

Today many Americans are looking for ways to save money. With the current state of the economy who can blame them.  They look at cutting expenses.Possibly they might start to not go out as much. They aren’t going out and buying things of no use.But I would like to examine a way that might not have crossed your mind.  That way is in your car.

When a lot of people consider using their cars to save money they think of ways to use less gas. They try to come up with ways of spending less money on gas.But what I would like to offer is the fact that if you keep your car properly maintained you can save a lot more.  I know this for a fact running my San Diego auto repair company.

With cars in general a lot of people don’t even consider maintaining it. Unfortunately the only time they do think about it, is when it is too late. They wait for the inevitable part breaking down or something going wrong.  But from my experience waiting till that point makes the auto repair more expensive.

As an example let look at your brakes. If you do proper maintenance with your brakes you are able to avoid expensive repairs.  If you don’t you can  have expensive discs you have to repair.Or you may have to get the brake shoes replaced.By making sure that you use your brakes the right way and mainaining them you will save a lot of money.  So take it in to a brake shop like my San Diego brakes shop and you can find out if you need to do anything.Things like the brake fluid and checking it to make sure it has enough.

Or most people don’t bother getting their car tuned up.They disregard the engine’s maintenance.  They don’t change the oil as much as they should. This ends up making your cars engine to start running badly. So bad that the chances of it passing a smog test is slim at best.  From what I have seen running a San Diego smog check shop, if you fail a smog test, this can lead to expensive repairs just to get it to pass.

But if you properly maintain your car you can keep it in good shape. The motor is going to run much smoother and proper.Go and wait too long and it will end up costing you more money in the long run.

I hope this shows you that maintaining your car is a great way to save money. Spend a little now to save more in the future.

How to improve the life of your car

It is a brand new time period.  The economy has changed. With it, most Americans have less spending money today as they did before. In regards to the auto industry you are able to witness it.With the big three carmakers always losing money, you have proof that big items just aren’t being bought as much as before.

With that as a thought, a lot of Americans will be forced into having to keep their car a much longer times.  Keeping a car longer will require maintenance.  The better you can take care of your car the longer it will last.  So I would like to offer a couple of tips from my experience owning a San Diego auto repair company.

One of those things that can be so easily passed over is making sure your car runs clean. Why is this important?  Because if you don’t keep it running clean you could fail a smog test.  If you fail a smog test you could be in for some expensive repairs.  I have seen this time and time again from doing San Diego smog check.

All you will have to maintain is being sure that the oil is changed and oil filter changed regularly.  Also make sure you keep it tuned up with regular tune ups.

Second thing overlooked is brakes. You don’t really watch for it as much as you should. But everybody is positive that it is critical for safety.  But if you don’t take care of them, they can be an expensive repair.  I should know having to charge my clients to replace their brakes at my San Diego brake shop.

Just make sure when you brake don’t be so rough on them. Anticipate your stops and brake slowly. Also take care in making sure the brake fluids are at reasonable levels. This can help you save a bunch of money in repairs.

Do these couple of items and you will see a lot money in reparis being saved.  When you have to keep your cars longer you will be glad you did.

How to save more money in a used car

Well the decade of wealth and exuberance is gone. For a lot of Americans excessive items like a new car is a thing of the past. Now in these times when a family is in need of a new car they have to look into a used car.  This is evident in all of the financial problems the big 3 carmakers are having. There sales have plummetted.

But families will still be needing a form of transportation.  But when money is tight families have to choose the cheaper alternative. That alternative choice is a used car.

As a San Diego auto repair shop owner I am asked to inspect some of these used cars.Because when you have decided to buy that used car, you do not want to purchase a lemon.  So by getting a proper inspection done you can avoid costly problems.

So when you are looking over these cars remember these couple of items to inspect.First thing you have to check is the brakes.  We do San Diego brake in our shop.So I have seen firsthand that needing your brakes repaired is an expensive option. If you buy an auto that the owners didn’t take care of the brakes, that could lead to very expensive repairs.Last thing you want to happen is the need to get the entire braking system replaced.  So make sure the brakes are good.

Second you want to make sure it is running clean.Another way to say it, can it pass the smog test.  In my business I do San Diego smog check. The last thing you are going to want is the purchase of a used car that needs some expensive repairs.Especially if the repairs are going to involve any emmission problems.

If you buy a car that is unable to pass a smog check, that won’t be good.  It is a sign that the car wasn’t taken care of.  Most likely they didn’t do oil changes or tuneups. These could be the start of a lot more problems in the future.

If you just check out these few items you can save money. By not inspecting you can lead yourself into some big repairs.  When you are trying to save money I am sure you don’t want that.

Maintaining your vehicle to save money

The economy we are faced with we need all the ways possible to save money.  It doesn’t take much to see that many Americans are suffering in this economy. But instead of moaning about a lot of things, we can search out other ways to save money.

So I would like to offer some perspective from a San Diego auto repair owner. Now you may be thinking that I would be biased but listen to me first.  After reading you should see that it makes sense and can save you money.

One of the ways we can save money is to keep our cars longer. In the heyday of this decade when the economy seemed to be so good people traded in cars left and right. They traded in the cars when they got old.So the fact of the matter is a lot of people never thought of maintaining their car.

Well in the economy we are in that is not a luxury anymore. Most folks won’t be able to just get a brand new car nowadays.People now must keep the old ones longer. What that implies is they are going to have to keep up the maintenance of the cars.

One of the important maintenance things you can do is be sure you can pass a smog test.  Once your car gets older it is required by law.If you can’t pass the smog test that may cause very expensive repairs.  I know this first hand running my smog test San Diego shop.

There are things you can do to make sure your car passes the test. You must keep you car tuned up always.  You can make sure to change the oil and oil filter.  You can make sure the muffler is in good working order.

This is what causes you to lose money. If you are unable to pass the smog check you might be in for some expensive repairs.  So by making sure you follow these maintenance procedures so you can save money.By putting in the time and effort in maintenance now will cause you to not have to spend on big repairs later.

Don’t forget to also maintain your brakes.  With my experience with our San Diego brake shop this is important as well. By ensuring that the brakes pads you have aren’t wworn down you can make your disc brakes last longer. Not keeping it maintained can cause very expensive repairs.Follow these tips and you won’t have a problem saving money.

Smog Tests and Used Cars

In the economy we are in, rather than purchasing a new vehicle, a lot of families are going to choose to buy a used car.

With that being the case, there will be a lot of issues concerning finances that go into place when making a used car purchase.

When I say financial considerations, I am not just talking about the sales price.

When you are a family looking to save money the last thing you want to do is buy a used car with extra expenses you weren’t prepared for.  Especially if those extra expenses were not in your budget.

So one of the major things to be aware of is having to do a smog test.  The last thing you want to have to do is make expensive repairs for a failed smog test.  I have seen too many used cars in my San Diego auto repair business have this happen.

So in buying the used car here are a few things you ought to consider.

In a law that was passed in 2005, 1976 cars or older don’t have to get a smog test.  But if it is newer than that your vehicle will be tested based on the state emission law.You can search about your state by contacting the Bureau
of Automotive repair at (800) 952-5210.

If you live in California and are buying a used car you may need a San Diego smog check. If the car has been sold and registered in California for the first time, you will have to get a smog check.

Other than that, if the vehicle is going into it’s 5th or 7th year, a smog check will need to be done biennially.

If you made the car purchase in another state but live in California, you will have to find out if your vehicle can pass a smog test.  Generally California is much stricter.

With it being the case, when purchasing your next car you want to keep that in mind.

Costs for a smog test San Diego generally run between $30 to $80.But as previously mentioned, it isn’t the biggest cost.  The big cost is if you need costly repairs.

So when purchasing the used car, make sure you find out if the vehicle has recently passed a smog test.

You don’t want to get any unexpected expenses cropping up all over when the idea was to save money when you bought that used car.

Follow these pieces of advice when making a purchase of a used vehicle and a lot of money will be saved.
