Auto repairs and how to avoid it

One of the things that people can’t live without is a car.If you think about it, people can’t go anywhere without it.  It truly is a necessity most of the time. But it is an expensive thing to buy as well. Not just in the money that you used to buy it.  But also in keeping it maintained.  And if you truly want to get the most out of your car you need to keep it maintained. And now I present some tips on how to keep your car in good shape.

First thing you should do is to regularly change the oil of your car. Sounds simple but it is so vital.  I try to remind the customers of my auto repair San Diego shop how important it is. Taking care of the oil of your cars will naturally make your cars last longer. But not doing it will result to major problems for your car.Your car’s engine will fail if there is no oil in it. That is a very expensive repair.

Another bad thing that can be caused by not changing your car’s oil regulalrly is failing a smog test.  If you couple this with not doing regular tuneups and you will fail a smog check easily.  It happens all the time at my smog test San Diego shop.I encountered car owners who bring in their cars who hasn’t changed their cars’ oils yet. And they also never did tuneups for their cars. So, as a result, their cars ran bad.Their engines also ran badly. That is the reason why they failed their smog test. But those are just the beginning of the problems. Not doing those steps to take care of your cars will lead to major problems.

Finally you want to care for your brakes.  This is another part of your car that is used all the time. And also, it is one part of your car that is very costly to repair.  One of the pieces of advice I give to all my San Diego brake service clients is to take care of their brakes.  Do these things and your car will last long.

Avoiding transmission problems

The transmission is one of the most important parts of your car. Not only is it one of the most important it is also one of the most expensive.  If you have to get it repaired it is very costly. So you should make sure to always take care of it.Because if you do not take care of it, it will hurt you in the long run.So, here are now some of the few tips to take care of your transmission.

One of the minor things that causes problems for your transmission is because people do not check their transmission fluids.  Not having enough transmission fluid causes so much damage that I see it happen all the time in my Vista auto repair shop. What’s sad about this is the fact that it could have been avoided. All a person needs to do is to always check his/her car’s fluid levels. If it is low in level then go and fill it up.It is easy to do and can also save you a lot of money.

Second thing you should avoid is to shift gears while moving. You would be surprised at the number of cars that come in damaged in my Oceanside transmission repair shop from this problem alone.Do not be impatient and shift gears while moving.  It is another thing that is easy to do. But when you fail to do it, you damage your transmission little by little.

Finally, do not let your transmission overheat. An overheated transmission will be damaged more easily.  I always advise my La Costa auto repair clients to make sure to add a coolant type of additive to their fluid. This will help your transmission to run cooler.

If a person abides by these tips then his/her car’s transmission will have the ability to last longer.Failure to do so will hurt them financially and their transmission willhave a shorter lifespan.  With these things being so easy to do it shouldn’t be a problem.

Ways to avoid going to auto shops for repairs

One of the things people hate about cars is the maintenance. It is a hassle to bring it into the auto repair shop. There is also the hassle in bringing your cars to an auto repair shop and waiting for it to be repaired.  And of course it costs money.  What people don’t realize is if they had done some routine maintenance they could have avoided it.  They could have not needed to do the repairs they paid for.

During my ownership of my auto repair San Diego business I always advise my clients to do regular maintenance.  I try to show them by doing simple things they can avoid costly repairs. But their cars running smoother is not the only benefit that they can get.  They will be happier with the car they have. This are the results when they just take care of their cars the way cars should be cared for.

First thing they can do is do some tune ups.  By keeping your car tuned up your engine runs smoother.  Plus by doing things of a tune up it will help when you have to do a smog test.  One of the biggest cause of failures in my smog test San Diego shop is the fact that people neglected their tune ups.  By just doing regular tune ups they can avoid a smog test failure.

Another suggestion I give to my clients is that they should always check and regularly maintain their brakes. One of the most costly repairs people bring into my San Diego brake service is fixing the brakes.  Something as simple as brakes can cost a lot.  If they have to replace the brake system it can be expensive. But doing a step as simple as checking the fluid levels will prevent this from happening.Make sure also to check if there any noise coming from the breaks.Brake problems that are detected at an early stage will lessen the damage to it and of course also the costs.

Doing these few simple steps will enable car owners to save a lot of money on repairs and replacement parts.

Transmission problems telltale signs

One of the most expensive parts of the car to replace is the transmission. There are even times when replacing the transmission system will cost more than replacing your car with a new one.So, armed with that knowledge car owners should be more careful of their cars. One way you can do that is by having a watchful eye on your car. What I mean to say is that there are signs to tell you if there is something going on with your transmission. Because repairing minor problems is better and cheaper than full blown damages.

The first sign that you can easily see and look out for is a leak.  A lot of times I have cars brought into my Vista auto repair shop where the problem started with a simple leak. You should be on the lookout for red leaks. If you find any red fluid leaking from your car then that is your transmission fluids. And if your transmission is low on fluids damages can happen. If you see any red fluids leaking from your car immediately fill your car with more transmission fluids.  Then take it to a shop to have the leak fixed.

Another thing that you must be on the watch for are noises and vibrations coming from the transmission of your car.  From my experience running my La Costa transmission repair shop those noises are a sign of a couple of things. It could be an indication of low fluid level.Or there is also the possibility of damaged transmission cables.Immediately have your car checked by a mechanic to see if you have those kinds of transmission problems.

Finally, you should always be on the lookout for an overheating transmission. That will be your biggest hint that there is a problem with your transmission. I see all the time cars brought into my La Costa auto repair shop that had that problem. Most of the cases were brought in too late. So, instead of undergoing a minor repair only it became a major repair.

So by looking out for those signs you can avoid expensive repairs. It is a simple task and it can save you a lot on expenses and repairs.

How to make your transmission last longer

One of the most costly repairs on a car is the transmission. It is one of those things you hate hearing about in regards to repairing your car.Naturally most people will want to know some ways to get it to last longer.Or they are interested in knowing if it even can be done. Like anything it is possible. You can do things that will help it last longer and that is by taking care of it.But here are some more things that are more specific in helping your transmission get more life.

First thing you have to do without fail is keep the proper levels of fluid.Just like most things in your vehicle you want to have your fluids at the right level. But in regards to your transmission it is imperative if you truly want it to last longer.  Whenever a client takes there car in to the La Costa transmission repair shop I run I always check their fluids.  I also recommend they always keep a close eye on their fluid levels. If they attempt to drive their car with fluids that are low they will definitely ruin their transmission.Or it isn’t going to last the length of time they want.

Second thing you have to know is that heat can hurt your transmission. So you will want to do some things that will help your transmission to run cooler. One of the ways that work best is by adding in some transmission cooler.  You can easily find it at most auto parts dealers.  Of course when clients come and bring their cars in to our Vista auto repair shop we add it in also.  This helps let the transmission run cooler.

Lastly here is one that is easy.Don’t ever try to shift the gears while your car is moving.  You will be surprised at the number of people who ruin their cars by shifting gears while the car is moving.  I am not because we see it all the time in our La Costa auto repair shop.  People bring their cars in with ruined transmissions because they shifted while moving.

Important auto repair maintenance for your car

One thing people don’t even know is how crucial it is to maintain your car properly.Wel don’t really value how important these cars are that we use to drive around in.We don’t even seem aware that our safety is at risk whenever we go out. Plus they don’t realize our car’s safety is on the line whenever we drive. So here are the following 2 very critical auto maintenance jobs.

First thing is it is vital to the overall maintenance of your car to do regular tuneups. What I am talking about is making sure your car is on schedule for regular tuneups.  As mentioned your car’s are big investments.  If you don’t maintain it you run the risk of ruining it.  I have seen many clients ruin their vehicle and take it into my auto repair San Diego shop after the fact.  I see that if they had just performed some routine maintenance, the problem may never have happened.

Another thing to consider when doing regular tune ups is that you will have your car performing cleaner. With a lot of scrutiny being placed on cleaner air and cleaner emmissions it is important.Because what will happen is if you don’t care for your car you will have a good chance of failing a smog check.  I have seen older cars that when taken care of pass with flying colors in my smog test San Diego shop by doing regular tune ups.  I have seen the other way around as well.  Cars that weren’t taken care of fail miserably.

Finally one of the very critical parts of your car will be the brakes. But most people don’t even give it a second thought most of the time.  By neglecting your brakes and not maintaining it you risk bigger repair costs.  In my San Diego brake service I see cars have expensive brake repair jobs because they didn’t do simple maintenance. By doing some regular checking of their brakes.  Or having it checked regularly they could have saved a lot of money.

Tips on finding transmission problems yourself

One of the most costly repairs you can have for your car is the transmission. It is a huge part of your automobile.  Taking care of it is very important.By doing some maintenance on your car you will end up saving a lot of money.  Since you can’t fix it yourself here are some ways to check it at home.   By checking it at home you can make sure you need to take it in.

First off since I own a Vista auto repair shop I know how expensive transmission repairs can be.  So I always tell my clients to check a couple of things first.  This way they can make sure they need to come in.  First off they can check the fluid.  The fluid should be clear. If you find that the fluid is black or dark, that is a warning sign of problems and the car has to be brought in.

Second thing they can check at home is to check the gear shifting.  You do this by moving your gear from park to drive.Or you can shift it from park to reverse.  What you are looking for is for the gears to shift smoothly. What you hope doesn’t happen is a jerking motion. If you find that your car is jerking that is an indication of problems with your transmission.  In my La Costa transmission repair shop this is one of the big signs of transmission problems.Quite a few cars that are brought in have this problem.

Finallyl what you can check for is any leaks of your transmission fluid.  You once again check this with your dipstick. But you won’t be able to tell unless you do this checking regularly.  I advise all my customers in my La Costa auto repair shop to always check your fluids.  People are familiar with checking for oil.But they need to also look at their transmission fluid.  This way they can tell if their fluid is leaking.

If you follow these tips you can make sure your car’s transmission stays good.

Transmission problems signs

The transmission is one of the most expensive parts of a car to be repaired. In general like most of your car they are built well.  But it can be easily broken and very expensive to fix.So you should always see to it that you regularly maintain your transmission. So let us now look into some signs of a transmission problem.

First thing that can signal a problem with the transmission is by looking at the fluids.  If you go to check the fluid with a dipstick it can give you a sign. If you notice that the fluid level is always low then that might be a sign of a leak.  If the fluid is dark or has a burnt smell that is a sure sign of problems.  So to make sure your car doesn’t suffer any severe transmission damage always check your fluids. If you observe one these signs then that would also be a sign for you that you need to go immediately to an auto repair shop.  I catch a lot of transmission problems early in my Vista transmission repair shop with these signs alone.

Another sign of transmission problems is when you have a delay when you shift it into drive. If you shift it and it does not get into gear immediately then that’s a sign of a problem. That problem is called as the delay of engagement. This could be caused by a worn out transmission or another problem. I have all my clients take it into my Vista auto repair shop anytime they get the delayed engagement problem.

Last sign of problem that I know of is when you shift the gears and it is jerky then that would be another sign of problems to come.  All shifting should be smooth with no slipping. If your car jerks everytime you shift gear then that would be a sure sign of a worn out transmission. I catch a lot of problems early in my La Costa transmission repair shop when this happens.A customer can save more money on repairs if only he.she can detect the problems as early as possible.

Taking care of your cars

There are people out there who really love cars. They take care of their cars just like they do with their babies. Then there are those people who just ignore it and just consider it as something they use to get to somewhere. They just use it to carry them around places.  For those second group of people that is a wrong decision. And since it is a big investment for the owners it should be well taken care of.

As mentioned earlier people give up a big chunk of their money to buy cars. And since they already spent that money they should also take care of their cars so it can last for a long time.  All my clients with my auto repair San Diego shop know this.I always remind them all the time that they need to make their cars undergo maintenance regularly. By taking good care of their cars they will have their cars last longer. And by ignoring and neglecting it they are risking their cars and themselves.

If the car is already a used one then the current owner must double his/her effort in maintaining for it to last longer.  Especially when they don’t know how the previous owner cared for the car.If it is already an old car it might even need a smog test.If they only make their cars undergo maintenance after they have seen the results of a smog test then it can lead to more expenses especially if it fails the test.  I have seen this time and time again in the smog test San Diego shop that I run.If they just regularized their car’s maintenance they could have saved a lot of money.

Lastly, even if your car is old or new you should take care of your brakes. The brakes are one the most important parts of your car.It will save your life when need be.But it can also drain your money if you neglect them.  Most customers are shocked with San Diego brake service repair prices after they have failed the test.Once again a little maintenance here and there would have saved them a lot of money.

How important it is to check your car’s transmission regularly

Cars now have more durable materials as compared before.  Even cars once considered cheap last longer. But even if cars are more durable now problems still happen from time to time. One of the major problems a car can have is by having problems with the transmission. It is not just one of the biggest problems but it can also be one of the most costly.

So here are some things to look for that I have learned running my Vista transmission repair company.First thing you should do is to maintain the level of your fluids at a good level or, better yet, fill them up regularly.  If you don’t you could burn up your transmission fast.  So always use your dipstick to check fluid levels.Be sure it is at a stable level.

Second thing you have to check is if it is already dirty.  A dirty transmission fluid could be signs of a problem.  If you find that the fluids are dirty or black then have it checked immediately.  I get cars in all the time at my La Costa transmission repair shop that have this problem. But in bringing in their cars early for checkups they were able to avoid more expensive repairs or replacements.

Next if you are going to do some maintenance yourself be careful.  When you change the fluids make sure you buy the right fluid for your transmission.Putting in a wrong fluid does happen because people make mistakes and it can be surprising.  If someone were to do this it could burn up your transmission immediately.  So when changing your fluids take extra care to put in the right one.  I tell all my clients of my Vista auto repair shop when in doubt just have professionals do it for you.  For such an expensive to replace part of your car it makes sense.

So if you abide by these things then you can save and maintain your transmission for a long time.Doing the steps mentioned above will take you only a few a minutes but can save you a lot of money.
