You might wonder as to how Skagen womens watch came to life. It happened way back in the year 1986. Henrik Jorst and Charlotte Kjolbye were introduced at a corporate party and wound up falling in love. You could say that it was love at first sight. Shortly after, Carlsberg, Henrik’s then employers transferred him to New York to manage their North American marketing operation. Before long, Charlotte hooked up with Henrik in New York. Both got drawn back to each other during the subsequent year.

A Danish buddy sent Henrik some samples of his company gift watches to determine if the young couple can make a market for them in the USA. They progressed to designing their own ideas in fashion watches and very soon found out that corporate buyers admired the designs. The corporate buyers also suggested to the couple that they should be selling the watches under a brand name rather than just offer them with company logo branding.

Over eight hundred watches were created by Jorst and Kjolbye in four very unique looks with the brand name “Skagen Denmark.” The designs of their watches, along with an uncanny intuition for what customer’s are looking for, drove the couple to create watches that were exactly what people wanted. The couple ordered a set, and they were almost instantly sold out. The couple ordered more, and in the following year, thirty new watch designs were created. One particular buyer, who happened to own a huge mail order catalog, was so impressed with the Skagen watches that he put them on the back of his special Father’s Day issue. They sold out even more quickly than before.

Later on in the year 1995, Bloomingdales agreed to sell the Skagen mens wristwatch on a trial basis. Every single watch was sold by the end of the day. Skagen Designs was featured in an article in Inc. magazine where it was among the top 250 fastest growing private corporation in the United States. In the period of five years, turnover had gone up by 1200 percent. Eighty stores in Denmark were now selling the watches after a new office opened to create ECU distribution.

Skagen Denmark already had almost 100 employees in their business, and it only continued to grow. In 2000, Germany and the Netherlands were also selling Skagen watches. Revolutionizing the watch industry, Skagen had grown into a monstrous corporate entity with 160 employees, 60 international markets, 250 unique watch designs, and over 5000 stores worldwide.

Everything about Skagen’s designs challenges conventional watch market styles. Skagen likes to provide an authentic design philosophy that stays devoted to the founders’ original vision year after year. You can never find any outsized, strident, designs bearing the Skagen women’s watches name. Instead you will find clean, chic designs, skillful craftsmanship and technical perfection. This ends in their ultra-slim signature watches that you could never go wrong with.
