Fond Memory Of My Mom And Her Use Of Lace Trims

I was brought up in a big family with many brothers, sisters and cousins. Fashionable items were a dream hardly reachable for a girl living in a remote village in 1980s. Almost all my clothes were passed to me by my elder brothers.

When I was a teen, I became to like beautiful things and very conscious about what I wore. I was made a laughingstock wearing my elder brothers’ jackets and became very reluctant to go to school. My mom brought home several yards of laces and trims one day, and started to make change for me. A black lace was made a tie and was sewn on the back of a yellow sweater. And she decorated the collar of the grayish jacket with a white lace. Making a lace tie and adding it to the back of the old clothes worked out just great!
